The next console war is going to be way more fun than the last one

[2019.10.09, Wed 11:05] Sony dropped a few new details on the PlayStation 5 yesterday. The headline has the key details: Sony confirms PlayStation 5 name, holiday 2020 release date, but I'm curious to see what proper haptics feels like on a controller, instead of just rumbles. I think this next round is going to be way more fun as a player than the last round of the console wars. Sony looking to double down on its PS4 lead, with a side of streaming games to any Android or iOS device. Google, a brand new entrant, promising to upend the entire ecosystem by putting the console in the cloud and letting you game with just a $30 TV dongle. Compared to the race to HD, 4K, and HDR, this next console war is so much more interesting - it's not even really accurate to call it a console war. Sony's seemingly minor announcement about dynamic resistance on a trigger button is just another signal that video games are going to get weird again.
