Principal talks technology

[2019.10.09, Wed 04:03] SCIENCE, technology, engineering and mathematics education is timely for PNG high school students, a teacher says. Sogeri National High School principal Kive Kererembo said Stem education was the way forward for education in the country. "We are a consumer-based economy and Stem education will help us in start manufacturing things for ourselves," he said. STEM education is one major area that the Papua New Guinea Australia secondary school partnership programme is focusing on to strengthen their priority areas. Kererembo said during his recent visit to Cherrybrook Technology High School in Australia, as part of Prime Minister James Marape's visit, he saw that everything in the school was done using computers and machines. A total of 24 high performing secondary schools in PNG and Australia were selected to start the PNGAus secondary school partnership programme. Students from 12 Australian secondary schools travelled to PNG recently to visit their sister schools for a week before returning home.
