PC shipments grew in 2019 ahead of bet on 5G and dual-screen devices

[2020.01.13, Mon 22:05] After years of bad news, the PC market has a reason to celebrate before computer makers start shipping 5G and dual-screen devices. The PC market grew between 2.3% and 4.8% in Q4 2019, according to research firms Gartner and IDC. As a result, 2019 overall grew between 0.6% and 2.7% over 2018. IDC's numbers indicate 2019 was "The first full year of PC growth since the market grew 1.7% in 2011.". Gartner estimates that worldwide PC shipments grew 2.3% to 70.6 million units in Q4 2019. Gartner found that worldwide PC shipments grew 0.6% from 259.8 million to 261.2 million in 2019. IDC. IDC estimates worldwide PC shipments grew 4.8% to 71.8 million units in Q4 2019. The rest of the market was up by 2.3%. IDC found that worldwide PC shipments grew 2.7% from 259.6 million to 266.7 million in 2019.
